Whether you wish to add volume, lift and reposition, reduce size, correct asymmetry, or undergo full reconstruction, Dr Ranieri combines advanced surgical techniques with a meticulous eye for detail.
Breast augmentation (augmentation mammaplasty), is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses either implants, implants and fat or fat on its own, to increase the volume and size of your breasts, helping to achieve more symmetrical, fuller beautifully shaped breasts.
Breast augmentation could help you, if you feel that your breasts are too small or different sizes, you have lost volume due to weight loss or pregnancy or want to address a medical issue. We use only the most appropriate high-quality implants, either round, ergonomic and teardrop shapes, to achieve the desired and most natural look. Breast augmentation is performed under general anaesthesia, administered and monitored by our dedicated anaesthetist. Generally, the surgery takes around two hours.
You’ll be asked the reasons why you want breast augmentation surgery and your desired outcome and expectations. Your medical history, including medications, conditions or unhealthy habits that could preclude you from treatment. Dr Ranieri will explain possible outcomes and complications.
An incision will be made either under your breast, around the areola or under your armpit. The surgeon then separates the muscle and connective tissue to make a pocket either in front or behind the pectoral muscle. The surgeon will separate the muscle from the connective tissue to make the pocket in front of or behind the muscle and that is where the implant will go, leaving a minimum scar between 3-4cm in length.
You will be provided with a personalised post-surgery recovery plan and painkillers. When you return home, you should take it easy, eat nutritious food and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. It is also important not to lift any weight or raise your arms above 90 degrees.
After 24 hours, Dr Ranieri will carry out a check up and the appropriate post-surgical bra will be fitted. Every patient is different, It should be possible to return to work after around 2 weeks, but a full recovery can take up to 6 weeks.

If you are feeling physical and emotional discomfort, including neck and back pain, because your breasts are too big for your body, breast reduction surgery (reduction mammaplasty) is a medical procedure designed to address these problems. Undergoing a breast reduction reduces the size of your breasts, making you feel lighter and also creating a better fuller shape.
Dr Marco Ranieri specialises in breast reduction procedures, uses the latest techniques and his expertise to resize and reshape your breasts, to deliver a more comfortable smaller silhouette.
Light breast hypertrophy
In cases of light to moderate breast hypertrophy, breast lifting techniques can be performed alongside the removal of breast tissue. Scars are placed around the areola and, if necessary, may extend vertically, creating a lollipop-shaped scar.
Moderate breast hypertrophy
When a more pronounced degree of hypertrophy is present, the Hall-Findlay technique—a modification of the widely used Lejour method—is predominantly employed. Scars are as described above, in a lollipop shape, and occasionally an additional short scar in the sub-mammary fold is required, similar to a short inverted-anchor pattern.
Extremely heavy breasts (gigantomastia)
In cases of extreme hypertrophy, scars are more extensive along the sub-mammary fold, resulting in a full-length inverted-T pattern. In some cases, a nipple graft may be required.
When planning a breast reduction, it is necessary to undergo a consultation to assess your overall health, motivations, and expectations regarding the surgery. A detailed clinical examination will be performed to evaluate your breast size, shape and skin quality. In some cases, imaging studies such as a mammogram or ultrasound may be requested to assess the internal breast tissue and ensure safety before surgery. The different techniques, expected outcomes and possible risks will be explained.
The process is carried out under general anaesthesia and involves the removal of breast tissue, skin and fat. The size of the areola may need to be adjusted too, in order to perfectly proportioned smaller, shapelier and firmer breasts. In some cases, a breast implant may need to be used to provide fullness.
After recovering for one night in the hospital, your surgeon will assess whether you can go home, provide painkillers to aid recovery and a post-operative plan. A bandage will be applied for the first 24-hours, after which a post-surgical bra will need to be worn for around 6 weeks.
You will be fitted with a post-surgical bra 24-hours after your surgery. Depending on your health and the nature of the procedure, you should be fully recovered within 4 to 6 weeks, and you can usually return to ‘light’ work within a couple of weeks. Plenty of rest, nutrition and water is recommended to aid recovery.

A breast lift allows patients to turn the clock back and regain their youthful silhouette. This cosmetic surgery procedure is designed to address the problem of sagging breasts, whether this is due to age, pregnancy or dramatic weight loss. A breast lift procedure can be combined with breast augmentation surgery to plump up the breast by providing extra volume, to create a fuller shape.
Dr Marco Ranieri has extensive experience of breast lifts to create the perfect position and shape, using the latest surgical techniques, including vertical and anchor incisions to remove excess skin and fat. Alternatively, using different surgical techniques including periareolar mastopexy, vertical (lollipop) and full mastopexy. In cases where breast is very empty, it may be necessary to use implants to achieve the desired shape and level of volume, and proportionate outcome.
When planning a mastopexy (breast lift), it is necessary to undergo a consultation to evaluate your overall health, motivations, and expectations regarding the procedure.
During this visit, your breast size, shape, degree of sagging (ptosis), and skin quality will be carefully assessed. Preoperative photographs and measurements will help determine the most suitable technique — whether periareolar, vertical, or inverted-T mastopexy — to achieve a natural and harmonious result.
In some cases, imaging studies such as an ultrasound or mammogram may be recommended to ensure the safety of the procedure. The different surgical options, expected outcomes, and possible risks will be clearly explained.
The process is carried out under general anaesthesia either using an anchor incision around the areola and towards the fold of the breast (whereby the scar forms an inverted T shape) or vertical incision. Fat and skin are removed and the areola complex is repositioned higher.
After recovering for one night in the hospital, your surgeon will assess whether you can go home, provide painkillers and a post-operative plan, including wearing a post-surgical bra for at least 24 hours.
For around 2 to 3 days after the surgery, you will experience moderate pain and the possibility of some bruising, and after the first 24-hours, the appropriate post-surgical bra will be fitted. Within 2 weeks you should be able to return to work and after 6 weeks you will start to feel normal and can resume exercise and your usual routines.
